JUST IN: Hindi lang ibinalik, dinagdagan pa! Lacson reveals DPWH gets back slashed ‘pork’

The Department of Public Works and Highways not only got back some P8 billion in “pork” that Sen. Panfilo Lacson moved to excise from its budget for 2017, it also got an additional P500 million.

In a tweet Tuesday evening, Lacson said the DPWH regained P8 billion in slashed pork, and received an additional P500 million.
On the other hand, he said the calamity fund suffered some cuts, from P37.2 billion to P15.7 billion.
“GAA 2017: DPWH regains slashed 8B (pork?), gets 0.5B more. 8.3B FREE TUITION stays, but CALAMITY FUND suffers cuts, from 37.2B to 15.7B,” Lacson said in a tweet.
Late last year, Lacson had at some P8.3 billion in pork-like allocations removed from the DPWH budget. The amount had been transferred by the House of Representatives from the ARMM to the DPWH, but the project implementation would remain in the ARMM – a violation of the ARMM’s Organic Act.
Senators eventually decided to have the P8.317 billion go to free tuition in state universities and colleges. [source]
