Yes, the New Cheesy Velveeta Veltini Cocktail Is Real

I once drank Grey Poupon wine to tell you how spicy mustard tastes in liquid form. I also once spent a morning mixing iced coffee and beer to find the perfect balance between the two. And I’ve written about Mountain Dew cocktails and Hidden Valley Ranch Eggnog. So yeah, I’m familiar with weird beverages. And yet, I’m not sure I will ever come across a stranger concoction than the one I learned about today. Because there’s something especially bizarre about the new—and we promise very real—cheesy Velveeta Veltini.

A cocktail pouring out a Velveeta Veltini in a martini glass

Velveeta announced it has partnered with the BLT Restaurant Group to add some liquid cheese to your summer. Just not in a way you’ve ever had it before. Select BLT locations around the US are now serving the Velveeta Veltini. You can get it during “golden hour,” from 5 pm until 8 pm. But it will only be available “for a limited-time only while supplies last.”

What the hell is a Velveeta Veltini exactly? I’m not sure I’m glad you asked. But I guess I’ll tell you anyway. It’s officially described as a “decadent and indulgent summer sip,” but that’s definitely up for debate. The drink features a whole lot of cheese and cheese-infused items. This take on a “classic martini” mixes Velveeta infused vodka with olive brine and vermouth. It’s then garnished with a cheese drip and a cocktail pick of Velveeta stuffed olives and Jumbo Velveeta Shells & Cheese. (And if you drink enough of them you might end up dipping your head in a bucket of melted Velveeta cheese.Because at that point why not?)

You can find the Veltini at BLT Steak New York, BLT Steak Washington DC, BLT Steak Charlotte, BLT Prime New York, and The Florentine in Chicago for $15.

If you can’t make it to one of those locales congratulations? But if still want to try it, you can head over to Goldbelly. The site has a limited number of Velveeta Veltini kits for $50. It includes: two martini glasses, a gold cocktail shaker, two Velveeta coasters, a jar of olives, cocktail picks, a box of Velveeta Jumbo Shells & Cheese, Velveeta cheese sauce (to infuse vodka & rim glasses), a Velveeta brick (to stuff olives), and a Velveeta Veltini recipe card.

Whether you buy a kit or head to a BLT location, please do me a favor. Tell me how this yellow monstrosity tastes. I like Velveeta cheese! I also like a good vodka martini. I’d like to know just how weird those two things taste together.

Just not enough to try it myself. Not at least until I’ve had a few normal drinks first.
