Lawyer Up with a Fan-Made BETTER CALL SAUL Gameboy Adventure

Sometimes you need a criminal lawyer. But in certain cases you want a criminal lawyer. And there was never any better/worse in Albuquerque than Breaking Bad‘s Saul Goodman. But before he worked for Walter White and Jesse Pinkman, Saul was just a public defender named Jimmy McGill. He fought and clawed his way to get respectability. Then he threw it all away along with his soul. But now you can see what it would have been like to personally lead ‘Slippin Jimmy to become a key figure in a meth empire. This fan-made video turned AMC’s prequel series Better Call Saul into a Gameboy adventure.

The YouTube channel Lumpy Touch (with an assist from @GameboyDemakes) reimagined Better Call Saul as an entry for Gameboy, the beloved classic handheld system. The video lets you choose one of three players: Jimmy, Kim, or Mike. Each has their own strengths and weaknesses. (Though I do have some major qualms with their scores.) From there the game takes you through some of the show’s most famous episodes.

That includes Chuck screaming about the dangers of giving his brother a law degree. It also has Jimmy and Mike’s dangerous journey through the desert. And you can even get in the ring with Howard Hamlin for a few rounds. However, if you come up short Gustavo Fring will let you know the game is over. Clearly you are not up to Pollos Hermanos standards.

This is a far cry from the idea for a Breaking Bad video game Vince Gilligan once pitched. But we’d very much like to play both. However, we’d be slightly worried Mike would knock on our door if he knew we enjoyed this Gameboy game. It’s not exactly flattering to one of the smartest, most imposing characters from the Breaking Bad/Better Call Saul universe.

But since we can’t imagine Mike Ehrmantraut ever playing a video game or watching a YouTube video about an imaginary one, hopefully we’d be okay.
