McDonald’s is celebrating its pop cultural history with a brand-new “As Featured In” Meal. This new meal option lets you order “fan-favorite menu items that have made iconic appearances throughout film, television, and music.” It’s a clever conceit because, as the trailer for this meal lays out, McDonald’s has had quite a history across some of our favorite movies, TV shows, and more. (Yes, the “As Featured In” meal has a trailer. It is kind of fitting.) Honestly, seeing all the instances of characters ordering at or working in a McDonald’s arranged into a nostalgic sort of montage does drive the point home. We don’t love product placement in our movies and shows, but McDonald’s has undoubtedly been around the block. And, of course, the trailer also features the latest entry into McDonald’s pop-culture oeuvre. This McDonald’s meal also treats us to new footage from Loki season two.
Tom Hiddleston’s Loki and Sophia Di Martino’s Sylvie will have their big reunion in a McDonald’s. It’s another dramatic moment below the glow of golden arches. Of course, they aren’t the only Loki season two denizens snagging a treat at the fast food place. Owen Wilson’s Mobius is spotted treating a TVA prisoner, played by Rafael Casal, to a milkshake. We wouldn’t necessarily say we associate Loki and McDonald’s, but we’ll stay tuned to see if the god of mischief at least gets a Happy Meal toy made in his image in season two. In the meanwhile, we hope everyone enjoys their awkward encounters among the fries.
In addition to Loki, McDonald’s highlights its appearances in The Office, The Fifth Element, Seinfeld, Friends, Clueless, and more. The “As Featured In” meal lets you choose between the most often-cited McDonald’s pop-cultural elements, McNuggets, a Big Mac, and a Quarter Pounder with Cheese. It then adds fries and a soft drink and finishes with a special Loki season two Sweet ‘N Sour Sauce. It may not seem like much, but those McDonald’s sauces can create a frenzy.
In fact, act fast if you want one because otherwise, you might have to slip through time for a taste. Get an extra pack or two to enjoy when Loki season two releases on October 6.
