For a long time, Pokémon fans have speculated where the next Pokémon Legends game might take them. Many thought a new game would take them to Gen 2’s Johto or Gen 5’s Unova regions, especially since Johto has a 25th anniversary this year, and Unova seemed the next logical step in the progression of Pokémon remakes. Additionally, Pokémon Scarlet and Violet‘s recently released DLC, The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero, seemed to point to those games as well. The Indigo Disk, the second part of the DLC, even took place in the Unova Region. But it seems like the new game will head to Pokémon‘s Kalos region. Or, at the very least, we’ll find Pokémon Z-A‘s main city, Lumiose City, there.

Among other Pokémon, Kalos features starters Chespin, Fennekin, and Froakie. Its legendaries include Xerneas, Yveltal, and, of course, Zygarde. Pokémon Legends Z-A, you know? We don’t know too much about the game yet, but we’d guess we’ll see another mix of ancient and future storytelling. It looks like this game might draw on both the future, using ideas for the planned Pokémon Z game that was never made, and the past, in a more Pokémon: Legends Arceus sort of way. Pokémon Z-A‘s trailer also hints at the idea of mega-evolutions. Pokémon originally introduced in Pokémon X and Y. And so, we wonder if the game could expand on the idea of mega evolutions and the second timeline they create in its lore.
