Chapters One and Two of Stranger Things 5 Are Absolutely Insane Episodes

A little while ago, fans got a glimpse of what to expect from Chapters One and Two of Stranger Things 5. On August 3, Ross Duffer teased the episodes on Instagram, creating ambiguity surrounding “Chapter Two.”

In the post, Duffer praised “Chapter One,” promising that it will kick the final season off with a bang. Here’s what he had to say about the first episode of Stranger Things 5, “‘The Crawl’ is our favorite, most eventful first episode since season one,” he wrote.

When it came to the second episode of Stranger Things 5, though, Duffer was both a bit more coy and a bit more chatty. He gave us the following insights into the Stranger Things 5‘s Chapter Two.

“‘The Vanishing of…’ (yeah yeah you think you know who blah blah) has by far the craziest cold open we’ve ever done. One of the sequences we’re most proud of this season,” Duffer wrote.

What Do the STRANGER THINGS 5 Episode Titles Mean?

The title serves as a callback to the very first episode that started it all: “The Vanishing of Will Byers.” The name, however, has been blurred out, leaving fans guessing who might be in danger next. One popular theory is little Holly Wheeler, Mike’s younger sister.

Chapters Three and Four of Stranger Things 5 Are Classic Stranger Things Episodes

Ross Duffer returned to Instagram to let us know that the crew has officially wrapped up filming for “Volume One.” The post shows two pictures snapped in the edit bay, giving long-time fanatics of the show a sneak peek at “Chapter Three” and “Chapter Four.” But even more excitingly, Ross Duffer offers fans our first insights into these episodes of Stranger Things 5.

“Chapters Three and Four: locked, mixed, scored, colored… Volume One is DONE,” Duffer wrote. Of episode three of Stranger Things 5, Duffer specifically noted, “‘The Turnbow Trap’ is the most classic Stranger Things-y episode of the season. It’s got all our favorite things. Directed by one of our idols, Frank Darabont (Shawshank! Green Mile! Walking Dead!) — who literally came out of retirement for this. He crushed it, obviously.”

Duffer goes on to tease “Chapter Four,” entitled “Sorcerer,” as “MASSIVE.”

He shares, “[It’s] as big as any finale we’ve ever done, and the most logistically insane shoot of our lives. We’re still recovering,” he wrote. Much like the series as a whole, season five, “Volume One,” is undoubtedly going to be a big one. We can’t wait to hear even more about the plots of the final Stranger Things episodes that await us.

The epic finale of Stranger Things will consist of eight episodes and be released in three parts. The first four episodes will hit Netflix on November 26, making the holidays a little stranger this year. Episodes five through seven drop on December 25, and the eighth and final episode comes just a few days later on December 31. We already have the names of all eight episodes, and fans are running wild with theories of what’s to come.

We know that season five will kick off with a major time jump, picking up in the Fall of 1987. That’s more than a year after where season four left off. The Duffers have hinted that season five will go full pedal to the metal, claiming there’s “no time” for any ramp-up. Netflix has also confirmed the new season will bear a mature rating, as opposed to previous seasons, which were rated TV-14.

“There’s no normalcy, obviously, once you’ve reached the end of four,” Co-creator Matt Duffer told Collider. “It’s just going to be going 100 miles an hour from the beginning.”

Though the Duffers have not yet released the runtimes for the episodes, it goes without saying that we can expect season five to be one behemoth of a finale.

Where We Left Off in Stranger Things 4

Season four of Stranger Things followed the Hawkins gang as they faced off against the sinister Vecna, a powerful villain trapped in the Upside Down. Vecna, formerly known as Henry Creel (Jamie Campbell Bower), is a bone-chilling humanoid with psychic abilities. Much like Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown), Henry was experimented on as a child by Dr. Brenner (Matthew Brenner) in the Hawkins lab. After Eleven defeated Henry and sent him to the Upside Down, he returned as Vecna to enact his revenge on Hawkins.

What began as a string of murders turned into an interdimensional nightmare as Vecna grew stronger. Battling across dimensions, Eleven, Mike (Finn Wolfhard), Will (Noah Schnapp), Dustin (Gaten Matarazzo), Max (Sadie Sink), Lucas (Caleb McLaughlin), Steve (Joe Keery), Nancy (Natalia Dyer), and Robin (Maya Hawke) banded together to defeat Vecna and save their beloved town. Unfortunately, the team came up short.

As the season left off, things aren’t looking good for the Hawkins heroes. Max is in a coma, Vecna is more powerful than ever, and the Upside Down is starting to bleed into the real world. The crew must regroup to put a stop to the methodical humanoid’s reign of terror once and for all.

Who’s Coming Back?

Many familiar faces will return for season five. That includes Noah Schnapp as Will Byers, Millie Bobby Brown as Eleven, Gaten Matarazzo as Dustin Henderson, Caleb McLaughlin as Lucas Sinclair, Finn Wolfhard as Mike Wheeler, Sadie Sink as Max Mayfield, David Harbour as Jim Hopper, Winona Ryder as Joyce Byers, Maya Hawke as Robin Buckley, Natalia Dyer as Nancy Wheeler, Joe Keery as Steve Harrington, Amybeth McNulty as Vickie, Charlie Heaton as Jonathan Byers, Brett Gelman as Murray Bauman, Cara Buono as Karen Wheeler, Jamie Campbell Bower as Vecna/Henry Creel, and Priah Ferguson as Erica Sinclair.

Season five will also see a few new additions to the cast, including Nell Fisher, Jake Connelly, Alex Breaux, and The Terminator’s Linda Hamilton.

Unanswered Questions

The explosive conclusion of season four left us with plenty of loose ends and burning questions. Will Max wake up from her unconscious state? Will the crew be able to save Hawkins from the Upside Down? We don’t know. Nonetheless, fans of the show are dying to see what wild plans the Hawkins gang will come up with next. This brings a whopping stack of theories.

Could Eddie Munson Be Alive in STRANGER THINGS 5? 4 Episode Title Clues That Signal His Return

Arguably, the biggest theory floating around centers around the return of fan favorite Eddie Munson (Joseph Quinn). In season four, the metalhead met an untimely demise after a swarm of demobats attacked him in the Upside Down, sacrificing himself for the greater good. Because of the manner of his death, many fans are theorizing Munson may return in a new form. The theory is rooted in the Dungeons & Dragons character Kas the Bloody-Handed, who is resurrected as a vampire after Vecna kills him.

Though nothing has been confirmed, it would be pretty wild to see the infamous leader of the “Hellfire Club” reprise his role for the final season.

It goes without saying that Eleven will likely play a massive role in the show’s massive finale. One theory states that in order to save Hawkins, Eleven must defeat Vecna and take his place as the ruler of the Upside Down. If this is true, it would be a pretty bleak end for the story’s protagonist, forcing her to leave her loving dad and boyfriend behind. Still, it’s a valid theory.

Fans are also theorizing that Will Byers will play a big role. His disappearance in season one was the catalyst for all the chaos we’ve seen grip Hawkins throughout the years. It would definitely bring everything full circle to see him step up in the final battle.

According to threads on Reddit, if you watch an episode a day starting October 23, you’ll be ready just in time for the long-awaited conclusion.
