Gen V season two is here for another semester of chaos at God U. At the end of last season, Marie, Jordan, Andre, and Emma were locked up after the big campus battle against Cate, Sam, and Homelander. So, trailers for this season had some fans very curious about what happened to them. How did they get out? Why would they go back to school? Those questions and more drummed up lots of excitement for this season; however, that joy also came with immense sadness. Right before Gen V began filming season two, Chance Perdomo, who played Andre Anderson, was tragically killed in a motorcycle accident.
Needless to say, the show’s creatives had to not only mourn his loss alongside the cast, but also change the course of this season. Until now, we only knew that Andre would not be recast in Gen V season two. But what actually happens to Chance Perdomo’s character in Gen V season two? Here’s the sad fate of Andre.
At the beginning of Gen V season two, Jordan and Emma are freed from Elmira Adult Rehabilitation Center and brought back to God U. Cate orchestrated the release, and PR put together a statement that says they were falsely accused of crimes. Cate asks about Andre and is disturbed to discover that something really bad happened to him. It’s soon revealed that Marie escaped the facility and is on the run, but a video surfaces that alerts Emma to her location and tells Jordan to come with her.
After tracking down Marie in New Jersey, Jordan is particularly angry because they feel like Marie left everyone behind, and her actions encouraged Andre to make a choice that led to his demise. Jordan reveals that in Gen V‘s world, Chance Perdomo’s Andre tried to use his powers to force open a blocked metal maintenance pipe, but he wasn’t strong enough. Jordan tried to get him to stop, but he didn’t and, ultimately, it’s revealed in Gen V season that Andre died from the strain. Marie returns to God U to face her fears, guilt over Andre’s demise, and the deep tension between her and Jordan. Meanwhile, Emma is driven now more than ever to discover the truth behind Project Odessa.

In episode two of Gen V season two, Cipher chats with Marie and says Andre had the same condition as his father, neuromicro tears that got worse every time he’d use his powers. Cipher believes he knew he would die and shows Marie a full work up of his medical records. She takes it with her and seems to believe the information there, even though Jordan is doubtful. With Emma’s encouragement, Andre’s father Polarity finds a job at God U so he can really dig into this Project Odessa business and, in a sense, honor his son’s legacy to uncover truths.
He doesn’t refute Cipher’s statement about Andre’s condition, but Cipher was also at Elmira while the group was held there. Polarity doesn’t think it is just a horrible coincidence that his Black son is the one who happened to die in a suicide-like mission. We didn’t have a Polarity and Emma duo on our BINGO list, but Andre’s passing brought them together to begin to uncover Project Odessa in the second chapter of Gen V.
Watching Andre’s friends and father take time to process their grief (and guilt) while also trying to be true heroes is incredibly bittersweet. It is great to see Andre still be a focal point in season two of Gen V versus a passing thought, but it also makes us miss Chance Perdomo’s presence deeply. We hope this season continues to honor his legacy and that, in a sense, it provides some catharsis for those who knew and loved him.
