PRIMATE Trailer: A Killer Chimp vs. Gen Z in Hawaii

You wanna know what’s not a good idea. Trying to make a wild animal a member of your family. I love and appreciate many animals, especially primates as they are our closest kin. But they do have certain natural protective instincts that I fully acknowledge and respect. While I don’t imagine them going on murder sprees like Michael Myers, I know my chances of surviving an attack from one is pretty slim. That’s why the trailer for Paramount Pictures upcoming horror flick Primate has me shaking my head. Because why is any of this even happening?!

A group of young and very attractive friends are on vacation in a sweet house in Hawaii. We love that for them until one of the girls, who is presumably a native, introduces her gal pals to Ben, an intelligent chimp. They are a little freaked out, but she tells them that Ben is a part of the family. Soon after, Ben starts acting differently and eventually goes full rampage.

I am sure that animal rights organizations will not be into this movie, and I get it. But when it comes to horror, a murderous chimpanzee taking down a group of young people is a premise that works. It looks like Ben will win, based on the Primate trailer’s events. When the man in the clip asked who the hell has a pet chimp, I felt that on a spiritual level.

What Is the Release for the Horror Movie Primate?

Primate will hit theaters on January 9. In the past, a January release date was a death knell for films, especially horror. But, we’ve had recent successes like M3GAN and Scream (2022), so maybe this film will follow suit.
