First looks at characters in Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey movie are starting to arrive. We recently saw our first look at Tom Holland playing Odysseus’ son Telemachus. And we’ve seen Matt Damon’s Odysseus around for a minute. But with a star-studded cast like the one Nolan put together for The Odyssey, every new look at a role is the best one yet. And, hey, it’s what the ancient epic deserves. The latest look at The Odyssey we’ve seen involves two of our favorite stars ever, Zendaya and Robert Pattinson. Via Empire, we officially learn that Zendaya will play Athena, the goddess of wisdom and Odysseus’ ally and divine protector. Meanwhile, Robert Pattinson will play Antinous, the most aggressive, rudest, meanest suitor who is trying to steal away Odysseus’ wife Penelope. Honestly, we’re obsessed with both these The Odyssey castings. It’s about time Zendaya plays a goddess, and Athena is a great choice for her. Meanwhile, we feel like Robert Pattinson is about to have the time of his life playing a Grade A Jerk on The Odyssey. We’re imagining Edward Cullen before he got a grip on himself and actually started communicating with Bella in Twilight.
Also pictured alongside Pattinson and Zendaya in the new images from The Odyssey is John Leguizamo, who plays Odysseus’ loyal swineherd and friend. We appreciate the beard action happening here.
We still haven’t seen an official trailer release for The Odyssey, but we feel like it’s coming any minute. Christoper Nolan’s The Odyssey will release on July 17, 2026. And we can’t wait for the stars to literally and figuratively align for this movie.
