Things are heating up in the world of Anne Rice’s Talamasca: The Secret Order. In episode three of the new Immortal Universe, our reluctant hero Guy Anatole went to see the vampire Jasper (who we absolutely adore)… and ended up staying the night… (Yes, we support Gasper in this household.) But more importantly, he told Jasper that he wanted to turn his back on the Talamasca and had no interest in helping them; instead, he’s willing to help Jasper snatch the powerful Talamasca historical record/book—the 752—right out from under the organization’s hands. We don’t know precisely how the rest of Jasper and Guy’s conversation goes yet, but in our sneak peek from Talamasca, we see Guy has found himself in yet another precarious situation, meeting up with yet another slippery fellow. One we all know well. Yes, in our exclusive clip from Talamasca episode four, we reveal your first look at Interview with the Vampire‘s Raglan James in his Talamasca cameo. What’s Raglan James up to in Talamasca? And is he friend or foe? You can watch our Talamasca clip below and consider for yourself.
Interview with the Vampire fans will remember Raglan James, played by Justin Kirk, as the Talamasca agent who crossed paths with Daniel Molloy in season two of Interview, during Daniel’s time with Louis and Armand in Dubai. Raglan James let Daniel know the Talamasca was interested in publishing his tell-all vampire book (a feat that has indeed come to pass in the Talamasca) and furnished him with all manner of insights and evidence about the vampires Daniel was interviewing… by hacking into his laptop. In fact, Raglan James provided Daniel with the smoking-gun Thétre des Vampires script, which led to the complete dissolution of Louis and Armand’s marriage. (You can hear Eric Bogosian’s Daniel Molloy write all about it in his Talamasca cameo—except he erased the Talamasca agents from existence.)
Daniel and Raglan James had a very snarky relationship in Interview with the Vampire, with Raglan making many quips about how Daniel would probably die and the Talamasca couldn’t really keep him alive. So, it doesn’t really surprise us that Raglan James is up to his same old delightful smarm in his Talamasca cameo. “Hookers and spies can always make out their own kind, adjunct professors, too,” is honestly a new instant classic one-liner. And Justin Kirk delivers it to PERFECTION in our exclusive Talamasca clip.
As a seasoned Talamasca agent, Raglan James knows immediately who Guy is in this Talamasca clip, and he doesn’t really want him around. We wish he would “leap onto the bar” and expose Guy in our first look at his time in this new Anne Rice series; we feel like that would be quite a sight. But we imagine Raglan James’ means of getting rid of Guy will be a bit more understated than that in his Talamasca cameo. But we’d best warn him not to underestimate Guy Anatole…
Overall, we’re obsessed with this first look at Justin Kirk as Raglan James in Talamasca; seeing a character from Interview with the Vampire always fills us with warm, fuzzy feelings. And Kirk really has upped the smarm, sleekness, and slight insanity that Raglan James brings to the table in his cameo here. Where will Guy and Raglan’s relationship go after our exclusive Talamasca clip? You’ll have to tune into Anne Rice’s Talamasca: The Secret Order to find out.
If you loved Interview with the Vampire (and Raglan James’ role in it), you won’t want to miss what comes next on Talamasca: The Secret Order. Even just this one clip gives us a great glimpse at the banter, relationships, spycraft, and pure chemistry it brings to the table. Anne Rice’s Talamasca: The Secret Order airs Sundays at 9 pm ET/PT on AMC and AMC+.
