Stephen King Recommends 2 Streaming Shows for Fans of LOST

One of the best shows of 2025, It: Welcome to Derry, is famously based on one of Stephen King’s most seminal works. Although the series focuses on established elements of King’s lore, it still has a bit of a “Mystery Box” element. Mainly because we don’t fully understand the true nature of Pennywise. You see, much like J.J. Abrams, King loves a giant question mark at the center of a narrative, like Lost back in the day. So it doesn’t surprise us to learn, via Slashfilm, that Stephen King recently took to social media to recommend some recent sci-fi series in the vein of Lost. Both of which might have slipped under fans’ radar. And the shows are From on MGM+, and Silo, currently streaming on Apple TV+.

There are really only two "mystery box" shows that I felt were worth my time last year and this coming year (for "mystery box shows," think LOST): FROM and SILO. As always, your mileage may differ.

From is a show you might not have heard of. But it’s been quietly gaining fans, and it’s about to head into its fourth season on MGM+. Starring former Lost cast member Harold Perrineau, From centers around a small town, one that the residents cannot escape from. The forest surrounding the town is filled with deadly nocturnal creatures. In addition to them, there are, of course, other weird occurrences happening all over the town as well. The show began on EPIX in 2002, before switching over to MGM+ for its third season in 2024.

Meanwhile, the series Silo on Apple TV+ is a dystopian sci-fi drama starring Dune’s Rebecca Ferguson. Based on the book by Hugh Howey, the story takes place within an underground world. And it’s a world that goes down hundreds of stories deep. The citizens believe that their rulers are there to protect them, but as is often the case for these kinds of shows, there’s a big mystery lying at the heart of it all. There are currently two seasons of Silo streaming for those curious to see what King loves so much. If you want some weird, unsettling shows to binge during your holidays, these both come with the highest King recommendations.
