For many people, Neon Genesis Evangelion is THE anime series. Not just a beautifully animated project, or a well-written story, but a true meditation on what it means to be alive. And so, as the franchise celebrates its 30th anniversary, it’s especially exciting to receive word that a NEW Evangelion anime series is on the way. At the “EVANGELION:30+; 30th ANNIVERSARY OF EVANGELION” event held in Japan, Studio Khara announced that a new Evangelion anime series is in production at Studio Khara and CloverWorks. You can read the full news below.
In full, the translation of the Evangelion announcement, which you can find in Japanese below, shares, “To commemorate the 30th anniversary of “Evangelion,” we announced the first report regarding the production of a completely new series in the “Evangelion” franchise at the Final Program on February 23 (Mon. Holiday), the final day of the festival “EVANGELION:30+; 30th ANNIVERSARY OF EVANGELION.”
Additionally, we learned that the new Evangelion anime series will be created by the following individuals and companies. “Series composition and script by Yoko Taro, directed by Kazuya Tsurumaki and Toru Yatabe, music by Keiichi Okabe, production by Studio Khara × CloverWorks.” We’re excited to see Toru Yatable, who worked as an assistant director on Evangelion: 3.0+1.0 Thrice Upon a Time, return to the franchise. Additionally, Kazuya Tsurumaki, who directed the Rebuild films and Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX, brings excellent anime experience to the table. Then, of course, there’s noted weirdo and creator of the NieR video game, Yoko Taro. We bet this trio will bring us something truly worth watching and worthy of the Evangelion title.
For now, there’s no further information available about the new Evangelion anime series. We don’t know anything about its plot or release date. But we are certainly ready to learn more. Hopefully, the new Evangelion anime series will come to life quickly, and we won’t have to wait long to understand better what it has in store for us. For the latest news, keep your eyes on the official Evangelion website.
