Two Lost DOCTOR WHO Episodes Found and Will Air in April

During the early days of Doctor Who in the 1960s, the BBC didn’t do the best job of preserving and archiving the show’s episodes. To be fair, the network couldn’t foresee that this “silly” sci-fi series would have decades of staying power and a global fandom. So, there are episodes from the First and Second Doctor era that are mostly lost to time, some with only bits of audio and/or episodic photography existing. But in March 2026, a box found in a collector’s stash of vintage films unearthed two lost Doctor Who episodes.

BBC

According to the BBC, these episodes are from The Daleks’ Master Plan, a 12-part series from the First Doctor’s era. Majority of those episodes were missing. Now, the first and third installment, “The Nightmare Begins” and “Devil’s Planet” are no longer lost Doctor Who episodes thanks to them being found in this collection.

The charitable organization Film Is Fabulous! Located these episodes in the anonymous collector’s stash. The BBC will restore and bring these episodes to iPlayer in April for fans to enjoy. I cannot wait to see this piece of history become available for Whovians, and hope that more lost episodes are found in the coming years.
