THE BOYS Brings Back a Character for Its Weirdest Cameo Yet

Episode three of The Boys season five is quite the doozy in a lot of ways. We catch up with Ryan, hang out with Stan Edgar, and even see Hughie get beaten up by an invisible God U student. But one of the most disturbing scenes is Homelander’s complete mental spiral where he has a “spiritual revelation” thanks to an angel coming to see him. That angel making a cameo is none other than Madelyn Stillwell, a former character in The Boys universe and a true blast from the show’s past.

Homelander is not coping with anything well at the moment. He’s upset after Soldier Boy tells him that he’s a weak and sniveling little idiot who wants to be loved. As we know, he hates to hear the truth about himself. And when he’s alone in his office space, the words of many from his past play in his head, as they call him pathetic in many different formats. Suddenly, the light appears that he saw at A-Train’s funeral and there’s an angelic version of Madelyn Stillwell.

Who Is the Angel Woman that Homelander Saw in The Boys Season 5? Madelyn Stillwell’s Vought History

In case you forgot, she was an antagonist back in The Boys first season. Madelyn was the Senior VP of Hero Management and in charge of making the Seven look good no matter what. But, she also wanted supes in the military as well. She was one of the few people who could get into Homelander’s head and control him, both as his advisor and someone he is sexually active with.

Madelyn was also Homelander’s source of, um, milk. She played into his deep desire for maternal love, and it’s a twisted relationship that strongly hints at her sexually abusing him as a child. But, he soon killed her in a rage after discovering she lied about Becca Butcher and his son Ryan’s fate.

In this episode, Madelyn comes to him and says that he is a god who should take over the world. She essentially encourages him to kill every living being who stands in his way and that the others who love him will support his actions. Baptizing the unfaithful in their own blood is a wild quest to go on. Now, it seems this is what he will do, even if it is the last thing he does. We didn’t expect to see a Madelyn Stillwell cameo in The Boys season five, but it was as weird as we imagined it would be.
