Every so often, something is so wildly unhinged that you just have to shake your head and laugh. And Verizon’s Connor Storrie ad, which aims to recreate a horror movie but goes way off the rails, is one of those things. I found myself questioning my own moral fortitude as I watched Storrie in this short film. “I’m noticing his butt a lot,” I mused to myself as it went on. “Am I okay?” But it turns out, I WAS okay. Because Verizon designed this ad literally to make you oogle Storrie’s butt. I wasn’t noticing it a lot, I was being SHOWN it a lot. And I mean, hey, it is a nice butt. And clearly, Storrie wasn’t the butt of this joke; he was very into it. So, you know what. I guess we all win? You can watch this butt-forward, horror parody about the perils of the butt dial below and enjoy Connor Storrie wearing a pair of jeans that REALLY fit.
The only thing that would have made this Verizon ad better is if Connor Storrie had been joined by Heated Rivalry co-star Hudson Williams. I half-expected him to be the menacing delivery person in disguise. Can you imagine? But I did appreciate the nod to “The Cabin” planted in this Verizon ad. Clearly, the company understood the assignment.
And an ASSignment it was for Storrie. But even wilder… the person behind this butt-forward Nia DaCosta. Verizon literally refers to the spot as “Verizon Presents: Look Behind You. A Film by featuring Connor Storrie.” Honestly, if more movies focused on their prime assets and really prioritized highlighting them, we’d have more five-star reviews to be sure.
Some joking aside, the Verizon short movie actually felt enjoyable to watch and even meaningfully tense at points. We need Connor Storrie to get his butt into a horror movie, stat! He and Hudson Williams could combine Storrie’s character here with Williams’ take on Nosferatu for something truly magical.
But in the meantime, we guess we’ll just enjoy this butt-forward outing every time we’re feeling down.
