Ah, Castiel we’ve missed you. And sounds like the good folks over at The CW have too. Misha Collins has returned to the network, and more specifically, Gotham City. The actor plays Harvey Dent in Gotham Knights, where he’s investigating Bruce Wayne’ murder. Yep, Batman is dead in the upcoming series and GCPD had a few suspects in mind. And the first trailer gives us a little insight in to the scandal rocking Gotham City.
Here’s a synopsis, as reported by Variety:
The one-hour drama takes place in in the wake of Bruce Wayne’s murder. His rebellious adopted son forges an unlikely alliance with the children of Batman’s enemies when they are all framed for killing the Caped Crusader. And as the city’s most wanted criminals, this renegade band of misfits must fight to clear their names. But in a Gotham with no Dark Knight to protect it, the city descends into the most dangerous it’s ever been. However, hope comes from the most unexpected of places as this team of mismatched fugitives will become its next generation of saviors known as the Gotham Knights.
Collins confirmed the news on Twitter in March, making a quip about rocking yet another trench coat on-screen. He joins Fallon Smythe and Tyler DiChiara, who are set as the series’ leads, Harper and Cullen Row. The series is set in Gotham City in the wake of Bruce Wayne’s murder. Framed for the crime, his adopted son and the children of Batman’s enemies team up to clear their names. And in doing so, they might just become the next generation of Gotham City heroes. Anna Lore has also joined the cast as Stephanie Brown a.k.a. Spoiler. Rahart Adams, Olivia Rose Keegan, Navia Robinson, and Oscar Morgan will also star.
It’s a whole Supernatural reunion over at The CW right now. Collins’ co-stars are all working on their own projects for the network. Jared Padalecki stars on the crime drama Walker, and is executive producing a spinoff, Walker: Independence. Meanwhile Jensen Ackles is returning to the Supernatural world, executive producing and narrating a prequel following the Winchester parents.
Gotham Knights will debut in 2023 on The CW.
