HARLEY QUINN Renewed for Season 4 at HBO Max

There have been many question marks around the future of HBO Max’s shows and movies after a tumultuous time for Warner Bros. Discovery. And the recent cancellations of movies like Batgirl, alongside other worrying remarks from the company, have left fans worried. But in incredibly happy news, the animated Harley Quinn series has been renewed for season four at HBO Max.

For many, the Harley Quinn series is an absolute triumph. Not only does it spotlight the beloved character and give her agency in her own story, but it features a queer romance between Harley Quinn and Poison Ivy. One that LGBTQ+ fans treasure. In fact, season three showrunners and season four Harley Quinn executive producers Justin Halpern and Patrick Schumacker have gone on record saying that “Harley and Ivy will never break up in the series as long as we have a say.” And that is honestly an incredible relief and a still-rare show of support for a queer couple. And it makes Harley Quinn‘s season four renewal even sweeter. We can only hope it proves true.

Currently, the third season of the show is airing, and its finale will release on September 15. Sarah Peters, a writer and consulting producer on the show, will serve as showrunner for Harley Quinn season four. Fingers crossed that Peters will continue the queer and chaotic notes of the first three seasons.

There’s no confirmation on which characters will return for season four of Harley Quinn. But we expect Kaley Cuoco, the show’s lead, and Lake Bell, Poison Ivy, to return for more mayhem, blood, and love. As we enjoy the end of the current season, we’ll keep our eyes peeled for more news of what’s to come, like a projected release date. For now, we celebrate that season four of Harley Quinn is safe on HBO Max. That’s not a given these days.
