Have you ever wondered who would win a dance battle between Matt Smith’s character in Morbius and Tobey Maguire in Spider-Man 3? This is the absurd question that perhaps no one asked but YouTuber The Human Spider answered, thankfully. When these two awkward newly-villainous white boys start dancing, millions of memes collide.
Bully Maguire, or Emo Peter Parker, emerges once the Venom symbiote combines with him in Spider-Man 3. For some reason, this changes his hair and makes him want to show off his sweet dance moves. In Morbius, Matt Smith’s character Milo enjoys his new-found vampire lifestyle so much he can’t help but break out dancing while getting ready for a murderous night out. Thanks to YouTube and editing software, these memorable movie moments combine in epic dance-off fashion.
The two scenes match up remarkably well. There are true crossover moments like the jacket toss and some dialogue. And it seems Spider-Man is the winner, his kick matching up with Milo’s death. And because every campy scene deserves a stinger, we get the line, “Stings, doesn’t it?”
Instead of trying to figure out if this mash-up confuses the Marvel cinematic universes even more than they already are, just sit back and enjoy. Could Milo be dancing his way through the Sam Raimi Spider-verse or the MCU (or maybe both)? If the mid-credits scene from Morbius isn’t enough to clear that up, just don’t worry about.
Who would win this dance-off in your fan-edit? I may have gone the other way. Since it’s clearly not Matt Smith’s first time dancing on-screen while Tobey Maguire’s moves are so cringe-worthy it hurts, I think Milo would prevail. Either way, it’s a fun match-up that could only be made better if David Bowie were here to judge it.
