Gen V season two is coming to its conclusion pretty soon, and there’s a lot happening right now. In episode six, Marie and friends have Cipher right on their tails, but they escape thanks to a very surprising character from The Boys showing up. We have seen a few cameos but this one proves that the show’s fates are far more intertwined than we could imagine. None other than former Vought CEO Stan Edgar appears with his granddaughter Zoe to save Marie, Jordan, Emma, Cate, Sam, and Annabeth in Gen V. And Edgar reveals a major truth that ties Marie and Homelander together in a disturbing way.
Homelander and Marie Are the Only Two Surviving Subjects of Project Odessa
Edgar offers to take Marie somewhere safe and offer her protection. She arranges it so everyone can come, including Annabeth, who is a reluctant supe. They arrive at an underground bunker where Stan has been chillin’ since we last saw him in The Boys. He heard about Marie from his daughter Victoria Neuman and believes that she can help him rebuild the Vought, and the world, soon. But, to do that, Homelander must die. Of course, Stan Edgar’s appearance in Gen V reveals so much more about Project Odessa to the crew. He confirms that Thomas Godolkin started the program and that only two people survived Project Odessa: Marie Moreau and Homelander.
That’s right, Homelander is a Project Odessa baby. But, while he exhibited supe powers from birth, Marie was considered a failure by most. We all remember that her powers didn’t activate until her early teen years. Therefore, Stan Edgar shut the program down after her birth. His interests seem to shift once he discovers that a long-standing rumor about Thomas Godolkin being alive could be true.
We’ve always maintained that the crispy old guy in Cipher’s house is the founder of God U. And Cipher is likely holding him hostage to use his smarts to further his agenda to cull out the “weak” supes and make the entire world consist of only the most supreme superheroes. Of course, Homelander won’t like that, so he has to go. Can Marie Moreau trust Stan Edgar? Probably not. And she gets the sense that this is the case because she decides to take her chances and leave that bunker to head somewhere unknown.

Does This Revelation About Homelander Actually Make Sense?
It is wild to think that Homelander was a part of Project Odessa, but it makes a lot of sense. We knew that his sperm donor is Soldier Boy and his mother was a homeless person whom Vought paid to carry the baby. And, he spent his formative years in a lab being studied (tortured, really) by scientists. That absolutely fits the bill for the environment set up by God U. Using supe sperm makes sense to craft someone like Homelander, who was born around 1981.
But, after seeing he was nuts, maybe Project Odessa decided to just use normal human embryos and inject in Compound V instead. That’s how Marie came into the picture. So, in a sense, Marie and Homelander are two opposite sides of the same f**ked up coin. Thomas G came up with a lot of ways to subdue supes, but Homelander is cut from a different cloth. That’s what happens when you keep playing with twisted DNA. We aren’t sure if we will see Homelander in Gen V this season but this all suggests that Marie could be the only supe able to stop him.
