Crystal Lake dropped all eight of its episodes on Peacock, and we are pretty sure that fans have completed their marathon watch. We checked out this Friday the 13th prequel too, which gave Jason and Pamela a fresh backstory and provided a lot of context about their close bond. And, even by the finale’s end, there is still some room left to explore more about what’s going on in Crystal Lake’s deadly woods. Will Crystal Lake return for season two? Showrunner Brad Caleb Kane already has plans, even though there isn’t an official greenlight for another season yet.

Before we get into his specific plans, let’s look back at the finale. There are several threads left hanging here, including what happens to Chief of Police Levon Brooks after the big shootout at the station. Surely he will be looking for Pamela and, alongside his sister, trying to find out more about Bellflower’s current schemes. We also don’t get a resolution for Grace, who is hospitalized with an uncertain future. Will Pamela seek her out again, or will Grace end up elsewhere? We shall see.
There’s also a few years between when this transpires and the events of the first two films. Jason is physically bigger but he’s a super big grown person in Friday the 13th Part 2. What does Pam do while in the woods? How is she able to keep hiding? Or does she leave and come back after finding out that Camp Crystal Lake will open once again? It is not clear but season two of Crystal Lake could answer those questions.
In an interview with Dread Central, Kane said he’s thought a lot about another season. “I designed this so that if nobody watches and Peacock decides to not make a second season then it will at least feel like a satisfying whole. At the same time, I know where season two goes. There are more stories to tell in Crystal Lake,” he said.
He even said another season could expand this world further with a Twin Peaks approach to the story. “We now know that Sackhead Jason is out in the world. Pam knows. I’m sure people in the town know. There are places to go and expand upon the town in sort of a Twin Peaks David Lynch style,” he said. “These are great peripheral characters that are not really fully explored in the movies that we get the chance to explore more here, but can explore even further.”
Nerdist’s Take: We Didn’t Love Crystal Lake, But Maybe It Can Course Correct With Season 2
We will have to wait and see if Peacock thinks there’s more story to tell in Crystal Lake. We would be open to watching another season because, well, shows deserve their fare shake. We found season one to be a mixed bag, so perhaps another season would allow the show to figure out what it wants to be. And, there’s an opportunity to explore more about how Pamela continues to spiral and kill before she meets her demise.
