PERCY JACKSON AND THE OLYMPIANS Season 3 Will Arrive in 2026

We’re so used to incredibly long waits between television seasons that it’s shocking when a series returns in anything resembling a timely manner. That’s what makes today’s Percy Jackson and the Olympians news feel like a thunderbolt from Zeus himself. The Disney+ show released its season two finale today. And, in a twist worthy of the gods themselves, it included an end credits scene teasing season three… which is coming out later this year.

Without getting into specific spoilers, Percy Jackson and the Olympians‘ second season ended with a big cliffhanger. Since modern television moves at a snail’s pace, that would typically mean fans would now be looking at a wait of three to five years before they got any sort of resolution. Instead, we’ll find out what happens next in the same calendar year. The season finale included a mid-credits scene that has the Percabeth hive buzzin’. It also doubles as a surprise first look at season three, which Disney and Hulu then announced will arrive in 2026.

Yes, 2026. This year. As in “within the next 11 months.”

How is this even possible? Most people under 30 don’t know this, but you are legally allowed to start making the next season of your TV show before the current one ends. That’s often how they did things in the “before times.” And that’s how Percy Jackson and the Olympians is doing it. Disney’s press release also noted the show’s third season is already in production in Vancouver. They’re making it right now and not waiting to start writing the scripts next year.

What can we expect when the show makes its shocking super timely return this year? Season three will adapt Rick Riordan’s third novel in in his bestselling book series, The Titan’s Curse. Obviously that curse can’t be that bad. It won’t stop a TV show from making new episodes of TV quickly.
